Works have begun on the renovation and extension of the Hampstead property, Templewood Avenue.
This postmodern home, overlooking the West Heath, had been constructed in an L-shaped configuration around the glass-domed swimming pool roof of Grade II listed Schreiber House, built by James Gowan architects in 1968.
Able to achieve the effect and essence of a new build while collaborating with the original embodied carbon structure, Arya Douge’s design retains and preserves by using advanced technologies to achieve aesthetic accomplishment.
This is a respectful, elegant and sustainable extension to the property, to be entirely heated with an air source heat pump and utilising the swimming pool as an "energy sink." Black and textured porcelain tiling, grey slate and brass are complemented with natural materials such as oak, reflecting the intimate relationship with and proximity to the Heath landscape.
